Neil Cloaca Young

 

Neil Young aka  Neil Cloaca Young, is an artist who makes moving images, sounds and performances. His work celebrates wobble, drift and crookedness, often intuited, always clumsy. His visual work has been screened at Anthology, Ann Arbor and Vox Populi. Solo and in collaborations, he has performed at ICA Boston, Far Off Köln, EMPAC, High Zero, the Block Museum, as well as countless basements, bars, lofts, living rooms, closets and art spaces all around North America and Europe. His recordings can be found in circulation on many labels such as Feeding Tube, Load, Ecstatic Peace! and Ultraeczema. In 2017, he was awarded the Massachusetts Cultural Council Fellowship for his work in film. He is co-director of MILFORD GRAVES FULL MANTIS (2018) which has been shown at IFFR, SXSW, CPH:DOX, Sheffield, IndieLisboa and in addition to critical acclaim won the Best International Do\\umentary Award at In-Edit Barcelona. His day job is at Hampshire College, maintaining and circulating production equipment, helping run the media labs and hanging out with college kids. He sporadically programs performance and screening events at an array of non-academic countercultural spaces near where he resides in Western Massachusetts.
