Al Matthews is a maker, artist, and composer living in Atlanta. He worked for a number of years as a broadcast news writer for CNN and a number since as a software engineer for an academic library and archives. He holds a BA in Philosophy and English from Williams College, where he wrote an English thesis in the mathematics library; and an MS in Digital Media from Georgia Institute of Technology, where he hid instead in the music technology building.

Working under his own name; as fatmilktv; as Typo; and as tvfm, he frequently builds his own tools and works as a practicing programmer and artist, freely combining aspects of field recording, sculpture, writing, video, tonal music composition, photography, printing, and other flat work. He is also actively involved in digital preservation and research.
